Utility workers were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with approximately seventy teams deployed to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Storm Challenges
At the same time, nearly 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.
Hardest Hit Areas
- Werribee region - recorded significant destruction
- Hoppers Crossing suburb - multiple assistance requests
- Wyndham area - over 175 calls for assistance
At the height on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along significant areas of Queensland's east this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This caution comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the area.
